Tamworth's next opponents have secured new American owners, with Gateshead agreeing a sale to US investment firm Flacks Group. The deal, subject to Independent Football Regulator approval, ends a period of financial uncertainty and ensures immediate payment of player and staff wages.
Phil Forster, a spokesperson for the Flacks Group, welcomed the move. "We are delighted to welcome Gateshead Football Club as the latest acquisition at Flacks Group," Forster said. The private family office, founded in 1983, specialises in turning around businesses and has global assets exceeding $7 billion.
Stephen Paylor, associated with Gateshead, thanked Michael Flacks and the wider team for their support. Interim chairman Graham Wood said the club has a tremendous history and that the new owners look forward to moving it forward and realising its true potential.
The news comes as Tamworth, sitting 18th in the National League with 14 points, prepare for their away fixture at Gateshead on 23 October. Gateshead currently occupy 24th place in the table.
Their last outing was a 2-1 home defeat to Barrow on 10 October, with Taylan Kurtaran scoring a late penalty. The club will now travel north to face a Gateshead side under new ownership, with the full schedule available on our fixtures list. The takeover provides stability for the hosts ahead of the midweek clash.
