Tamworth Football Club has been bought by a US property investor aged just 24, Abdullah Ashraf, who intends to take the 93-year-old outfit into the Football League. Ashraf, a keen football fan, was instrumental in founding a club in his home state of Oklahoma. He promised to be an active and involved chairman despite living in America. Previous owners Bob Andrews and Steve Lathbury have done amazingly well with the club over the past 40 years, achieving back-to-back promotions and stabilising the club in the National League. Now it's time to build on those successes and take the club to even greater heights. Ashraf will attend a press conference at Tamworth's Assembly Rooms and address fans at The Lamb ground during a fan festival. He sees a very bright and exciting future ahead and guarantees to do everything in his power to push Tamworth FC to new heights. The new owner bought the club through his US firm Dawn Group International after the deal was rubber-stamped by the Football Association, Football League and the new Independent Football Regulator. Ashraf will be very 'hands-on' at Tamworth and won't be an absentee owner watching on from across the Atlantic. He hopes to quickly become a familiar face in the stadium and fans will soon realise just how passionate he is about the club. The fan festival will run between 4pm and 11pm on Saturday, June 20. Ashraf has really enjoyed attending matches and visiting the town in recent months and could not be happier as they embark upon this new chapter in the club's history. Tamworth is an exceptional town with a beloved football club right at the heart of the community and they aim to keep it that way.
