Tamworth is mourning the tragic loss of 16-year-old Lillianna Tomlinson, a Year 11 pupil at Kingsbury School, who was found dead in the River Tame near Kingsbury Water Park on 25 May. Emergency services were called to the scene on Bodymoor Heath Lane in Kingsbury just before 18:10 BST, and her body was recovered after about an hour of searches, Warwickshire Police said. The family of Lillianna Tomlinson has released a statement through police, saying they are 'deeply saddened' by her death and will be 'forever heartbroken'. They thanked the community for their love and support during this difficult time. The school has said it is providing support to students, including access to pastoral and safeguarding staff, bereavement support, and drop-in sessions with the school nurse team. The incident is a tragic reminder of the dangers of water-related activities during the recent heatwave, which has seen at least 15 water-related deaths in the UK.
