Tamworth FC is finalising a deal to be bought by a United States consortium. Talks have been ongoing for months and are now understood to be just weeks away from completion. As reported by TalkSport, members of the group were at Tamworth's 5-1 win against Braintree on Saturday. Club insiders are so confident about the financial might of their prospective buyers that they hope for a Wrexham-style rise through the leagues, but with a more realistic timeframe. The Lambs famously took Tottenham Hotspur to extra-time in last season's FA Cup third round but have never played in the top four tiers of English football. They believe this investment will take them to that level for the first time in their history. Plans are already being drawn up to develop the club's infrastructure and stadium. The new investors are said to be focused on having a positive impact on the town and community. The identity of the new owners is being kept secret for now. While they aren't famous names, they are in Real Estate and we're told have a number of high net worth individuals behind them. They are the latest Midlands football club targeted by American investment. Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion and Walsall all have American owners. Shrewsbury Town are also reportedly in talks with a US-based consortium.
